Palazzo Barberis Rusca a Follina: veduta del cortile interno

Palazzo Barberis Rusca a Follina: veduta del cortile interno

At the feet of the Abbey, the sober and harmonious Palazzo Barberis Rusca appears; it was built by Francesco Fadda in the second half of the 17th century, to celebrate the conclusion of construction works of his textile factory. According to some experts, the building was the residence of Cardinale San Carlo Borromeo (1538-1584). In 1740, the building was purchased by Tron-Stahl, which resold it to Lorenzo Colles in the early 19th century. A curved, triple-arched window, matched by equally curved windows on the side, is visible on the central part of the façade. The inner courtyard hosts an airy frescoed canopy lodge with arches standing on bevelled pillars, while the remaining part is composed by a long series of round arches supported by columns. The palace may be visited upon request.
