Reperti del colle Castelir

 
 
The Colle Castelir was home of the most ancient human installation settled in the commune. During different excavation campaigns, the last of which was in 205, the foundations of a prehistoric castle lords going back to the X century B.C. were found on the top of the hills. In the slopes, very interesting material of early Venetian and Roman age were brought to light, making part of an open cult religious place, deriving from a glade in the forest nearby a healthy water source. It relates to small bronze pieces representing warriors, small plates imprinted with animal pasturing and divinities and besides that a quantity of Roman imperial coins, from Augusto to Diocleziano, buckles, ceramics and glass fragments. These materials will be exhibited in the permanent exhibition whose venue has been set as the oratory of Saint Francis in Via Roma.
